Tara Ling Study Group: April 7th

Tara Ling Santa Barbara
Monthly Dharma Meeting
Saturday, April 7th  10 a.m. - 1 p.m.

Under the guidance of H.E. Jamyang Dagmo Sakya, (Lama Dagmola), one of Dr. Alan Wallace's senior Tibetan Buddhist teachers, Vidya Gauci will lead the next monthly group meeting for Tara Ling Santa Barbara on Saturday, April 7th.   Lama Dagmola recently requested the establishment of Tara Ling SB to offer the opportunity for local students to sincerely study and practice together the teachings she has been giving over the years.

On April 7th, we will explore a deeper understanding of "stage of generation" practice within Vajrayana, go over the wonderful core practice of Green Tara,  "the compassionate mother of all buddhas," and have time for relevant Q & A.   We will use the practice text, "The Sadhana of Tara, an Ocean of Offerings," published by Sakya Monastery, and copies of the text will be available.  For supplemental study, we will draw from the book, "Tara's Enlightened Activity,"  by Kenchen Palden Sherab and Khenpo Tsewang Dongyal, published by Snow Lion, 2007.

We will be meeting at EMID* in Goleta from 10:00 a.m. - 1:00 p.m. through the generous kindness of one of our students.  Tea & light snacks will be provided.  Please plan to arrive at 9:45 so that we may begin at 10.  There is chair seating, but if you wish, you are welcome to bring your own mats or cushions.

Subsequent monthly meeting dates are scheduled for May 5th and July 7th with an important change of date for our June meeting, (originally scheduled for June 2nd).  Instead, we will meet with great joy on Saturday, June 23rd "forshower of blessings" event to honor our dear friends, James Elliott, his wife Sangay Wangmo, and their new baby girl expected to arrive in July.  Together we will practice Green Tara as an offering of blessings, to be followed by a potluck.  So please SAVE THE DATE!

Tara Ling Santa Barbara also regularly meets for meditation practice each Monday  from 7:00 - 8:20 p.m. at the Unity Church Main Sanctuary, 227 East Arrellaga, Santa Barbara.  Vidya Gauci leads the meetings with a short dharma talk, followed by two meditation sessions, focusing on calm abiding or shamatha practice.

All are welcome to attend the monthly and weekly meetings, which are free, with donations welcome.  For further information, please email vidyagauci@cox.net

Best of wishes,
Vidya

*DIRECTIONS to EMID:  Exit off the 101 at Winchester Canyon, and make an immediate left at the gas station onto Calle Real, which parallels the 101N. Go up several blocks and make a right onto Vereda Leyenda where you will see the adobe sign "Rancho Embarcadero." Midway up the block is #224, an historic Spanish adobe building.  There is a small adjacent parking lot to EMID, and lots of street parking on the right hand side.  Travel tip: do NOT follow the directions given by Map Quest; they will not lead you to Rancho Embarcadero.
